Thornton Manor

The venue is brilliant, but let down by very poor customer service The management (especially the owner philip) are extremely rude. Our wedding was unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19 (admittedly, nobodies fault). However, they told us that in order to get married at Thornton Manor we would need to claim through our insurance and then do a new booking. They described this as a 'win - win' - we could still get married and they would keep the ~£8500 that we had already paid. The customer service was so poor we decided that we no longer wanted to get married here. They refused to refund any of our guests that had booked accommodation on that night - citing the fact that they could simply not afford to refund the money. When discussing our issues with Phillip he told us peoples jobs were on the line, and then had the cheek to ask what we do for a living. When I told him we both worked for the NHS he said it must be nice to know we have a guaranteed income each month. Yes, it is nice risking your life on the frontline during a pandemic!!!!! We have decided to book elsewhere for our wedding, consigned to the fact that Thornton Manor have £8500+ of our money for absolutely nothing. The way Thornton manor pleaded poverty I got the impression they were struggling to stay solvent. Be cautious!!!!!

This was my son and daughter in laws dream. They were due to get married on a Saturday in May but due to corona virus their wedding was cancelled. The management at Thornton Manor refused to refund any monies and said they would offer an alternate date which was a Sunday in winter. As both my son and his partner are frontline NHS staff they could not accept a Sunday wedding as many of their guests who were work colleagues would not have been able to attend. They requested a Saturday in May in 2021 and even offered to pay extra if prices had increased but were told these dates were for new bookings only. My son requested a refund which they refused advising my son to claim through his wedding insurance and to rebook the new date with them once he had the refund saying this would be a ‘win win’. This was extremely stressful as my son and his partner had to cancel everything that was booked including caterers, photographer, florist music etc as they could not give anyone a rearranged date as they were unsure if their insurance would refund them. Throughout all communication management at Thornton manor were extremely unhelpful and often extremely rude. On one occasion the Manager, Phillip, told my son he was ‘very lucky’ working on the front line in the NHS as his job was secure ! My son and his partner did get a refund from their insurance and made the decision not to rebook with Thornton Manor due to the terrible way the Management had treated them. Thornton Manor refused to refund monies guests had paid in full for bedrooms in the Manor House meaning they still have this plus the 8.5k paid for the venue . PLEASE AVOID

We had the most wonderful day at Thornton Manor in April 2018. From the moment you drive over the gravel entrance under the archway of the tudor style gatehouse and it opens out into the courtyard - with the majestic House stood in front of you, you know this warm inviting venue is the one for you. Then the big oak door opens up welcoming you into the stunning French room to greet the friendly staff. The venue then continues to offer you access to room after room of beautiful architecture and traditional design - finishing off with the incredible music room. This room offers a huge fire place and organ but your eyes are immediately drawn to the stunning artistic stained glass ceiling. As you celebrate your brand new nuptials, you then get to enjoy being showered by confetti thrown by your loved ones, along the tree lined walkway. It really is like a fairy tale! The staff truly want you to have the best day also and offer help and support - well surpassing their job description. An all round incredible venue with such class and versatility to put your own stamp on it. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. A special thank you to Dougie who made the day that little bit more fun and stress free. He is an asset to Thornton Manor

Our big day at Thornton Manor could not have been better. The venue was so ornate there was no need for additional over the top decor. The music room where we had the wedding breakfast was just gorgeous and we have some fabulous top table photos in front of the organ. The venue staff were superb on the day checking in with me and my mum every so often to check everything was ok and whether there was anything they could do for us. The day ran like clockwork and guests are still talking about how fabulous the manor was still now 9 months later!

Thank you for helping to make our Wedding day truly special-it was everything I wanted and more! You treated us and our guests so well, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you doesnt say enough, thank you doesnt cover the joy and happiness we felt during our wedding day! Perfecto! A wedding dream come true!
