Originally built by the Mayor of Chester just over 100 years ago, Oakfield House was then bought by our founder George Mottershead in the early 1930s. With love, passion and a lot of determination, he turned it and the surrounding gardens into one of the world's most beautiful and influential zoos. Our house and zoo can offer you a unique, elegant and extraordinary setting for your big day and will create lasting memories for you and your guests to talk about for years to come. We can offer you exclusive use of the house for both ceremony and reception. Our zoo will also be accessible to your day guests, providing a wonderful and truly unique backdrop to your wedding photos. We have a selection of catering options for you to choose from, all offering high quality food and drinks from sit down meals for up to 60 people to more informal summer safaris, hog roasts and barbecues. We are able to accommodate weddings with up to 140 evening guests but just as happy to host smaller, more intimate events. Our dedicated team will ensure that your day is tailor-made to be everything you could hope for and more. As we are a charity, all proceeds from your wedding will help us to look after our animals here and with our conservation projects around the world.
