Wonderful Wedding Venue

We celebrated our wedding at The Dickens Inn in February 2019. We knew from our first visit to the venue and meeting Samanta that this was the venue for us. Samanta was friendly, professional and always replied promptly to emails. She went above and beyond to ensure our day was perfect. The meal we enjoyed at the reception was beautiful and all our guests commented on how great the food was. Having sole use of the Copperfield Bar was ideal for our drinks and canapes reception before the main meal was great. The staff were extremely accommodating when dealing with individual dietary requirements and when working with our external suppliers. The function room looked absolutely stunning and exactly as we had imagined it. All the staff were wonderful and the day flowed smoothly. Thank you for helping us to create the exact wedding we wanted, we will never forget what a wonderful day we had.

Grateful we choose The Dickens Inn

The Dickens Inn gave us everything we wanted in a wedding venue. We had a Central London location, with beautiful surroundings, exquisite views, tasty food and helpful staff, all for an affordable price. We loved the venue so much, that we used it for our service, reception and evening celebration. For each part of the day the staff were able to transform the room to fit the vision we had, making it look elegant and inviting. In the run up to the wedding the Dickens Inn team were available to answer all our questions and help us plan the day. We're so grateful we chose the Dickens Inn, as it gave us a vibrant and unique background to our special day. - Paul and Oana Warren

We had the best night ever!

We had our wedding reception at the Dickens inn in May. We had the best night ever! We couldn't have picked a more perfect venue, all the staff on the night were so accommodating and joined in with our celebrations. Everyone commented on how nice the three course meal was & how tasty the 'beast Pizzas' were in the evening. On the build up to the wedding Agata & Sam (our event co-coordinators) helped us organise everything and thought of things we hadn't, offering us useful advise and helpful suggestions. They helped us set up exactly how we wanted too. The DJ (who we booked through the dickens inn) was fab too. Thank you everyone who was involved!

We had fantastic day at The Dickens Inn

We had a fantastic day at the Dickens’ for our wedding breakfast and evening reception, having got married in Bermondsey earlier in the afternoon (our guests loved walking over Tower Bridge to get to the Dickens’ Inn!). The setting is beautiful and the room looked wonderful. We were really pleased with how the whole day went. There were no hiccups and actually the whole process right from first contact was fairly seamless thanks to Agata and the team. The food was delicious and great value, as you would expect from a brilliant restaurant. Everybody loved the whole day and we would highly recommend the Dickens’.

Amazing Wedding Day

We began planning for our wedding day around March 2017. At this point we had viewed a few other venues around Central London and hadn't yet found something that suited our budget, flexibility or had that special touch. We found an advert for The Dickens Inn Wedding Venue in a bridal magazine named Your London Wedding. We knew the Dickens Inn well as we had previously been on dates there together, so we immediately went on to the website and filled out the contact form to enquire about a reception for our big day. We received a swift response which confirmed that our date in October was available. Within the day we had organised a first viewing for the following week. At the viewing we were taken around the function room and given a full explanation of the menu options, facilities and extras available. After the viewing we sat down together by the bar looking through the prices against our own budgets and discussed how much we love the place itself and we realised this was the perfect place for us. We were very happy to find that at the Dickens Inn you have full control over the options and extras for your reception, so you only need pay for what you want. This is very rare for London venues which typically offer fixed packages with no flexibility. We had full control over our music options, as well as lighting, seating, decoration, courses, drinks and schedule. Once we had chosen these options they were all carried out by the Dickens Inn staff to the letter. We enjoyed our first look round and were excited to plan our reception further. Although the function room didn't seem massive we loved the aesthetic and kindly we were later invited to see how an actual wedding was set up, which gave us an idea of how to use the space well and we were pleased to see that the venue can comfortably fit 130 seated guests. We spent the next few months planning and deciding on our reception details. Throughout the organisation period we always received effective correspondence from the Dickens Inn Events Manager Agata who was happy to meet our requests and provide any information we needed. In terms of booking we had our date fixed in their calendar 6 months prior and were only required to pay a deposit later in the year. If we ever needed to come in for any reason Agata was invariably accommodating. For instance we took our photographer to the venue and were allowed to show him around no problem at all. She also allowed us to attend the tasting at our leisure. The tasting day began with a bottle of the prosecco and followed with portions of three different menu selections for each of the three courses. The food was excellent which actually made it hard for us to choose our favourites for our reception banquet. Eventually we settled on a menu that we were really excited about. We were assured that all guests with dietary requirements of any kind would be catered for without problem. On the week of the wedding we met with Agata again to discuss our room setup and explain the final details. We brought in all our own flowers, table decorations and wedding cakes and the Dickens Inn had arranged to provide us with the chairs and linen. For the big day, the staff very professionally set up the room exactly as we asked, there was no need for us to be present to direct the setup on the Friday night or the Saturday morning. This was a huge plus, we were free to relax and enjoy the celebration with great peace of mind. We arrived around 4pm after our Church ceremony to find everything ready and our guests had been welcomed in. We were so impressed with how they used the space of the room and included so many simple and tasteful touches to the decor to complement the aesthetic. The food went extremely well, each of the 3 banqueting courses were timed perfectly and not too close together so we had many opportunities in the intervals to socialise and meet with our guests. Each of the courses were generous portions and beautifully laid out on the plates, we were thrilled. We had chosen separate menus for the 10 young children which they throughly enjoyed. In addition to this we also had many guests with special requirements. My nan for example has a very strict diet for her health, a few of our guests were vegan and some allergic to dairy and milk. In my mind this was a nightmare to sort out but we notified them in advance with the seating plan attached and the kitchen staff were extremely accommodating. I received much feedback from these individuals who were amazed at the effort that had gone into catering towards everyones needs. An additional element that made our day special was its location. Not only was it easy for our guests to get to and from by way of the tube or bus. But the sites around the Dickens Inn were the perfect backdrop for many of our wedding photos. With the likes of St Katherine's Dock, the River Thames and Tower Bridge in the background the evening photos looked all the more magical. While the room was being set up for the Evening Reception and Dance floor we had hired the Patio space outside for our guests to mingle in a 'Champagne Reception'. This was a great idea as it gave our guests somewhere to go during this time and The Dickens Inn have the physical space to be very flexible on this note. However on the day itself once we came to the champagne reception it had begun raining, but the staff at The Dickens Inn were extremely accommodating and prepared for us a private indoor area instead with a bar and comfortable seating. It was ideal and a bonus that our guests didn't have to stand out in the rain! The setting up of the dance floor with lighting was according to our arrangements and went very quickly and smoothly. Throughout the Evening Reception we provided our own live music and stereo music using the sound system and microphones provided by The Dickens Inn. During the dancing we made use of the built in bar which we had paid for in advance. We throughly recommend the Dickens Inn as the venue to host your wedding day, the place and staff made it such a wonderful occasion that was problem and worry-free. We will always remember it as such a wonderful experience and thank everyone who helped make it special. Many of our guests knew the Dickens Inn and were surprised at its ability to host a Wedding reception, we received much praise for the beautiful reception and its set up.

Our wedding at The Dickens Inn

We had our wedding reception at The Dickens Inn and we absolutely loved it. It's been the best choice we made as we were torn between two venues. The Dickens Inn is an amazing place located in the most incredible area. St Katharine's Dock is beautiful and the surroundings were perfect for to take some lovely photos. The room that we hired was very rustic and spacious, overlooking The Tower Bridge. It looked very pretty even before we decorated it. The fairy lights in there were very nice but we brought more and turned the place into a fairy tale like setting. The food was delicious and the serving was impecable. After the meal the room was cleared up and turned into a dance floor. We opted for a ceilidh and it was super fun. All staff were very welcoming and so nice and helpful to us. From the booking process until the last arrangements after the wedding everything went very smoothly. It just couldn't have been less stress free. We are so so pleased we found The Dickens Inn and we would go back there anytime as it's one of the best places in London.

Stunning Wedding Venue

Our wedding at the Dickens Inn was everything I wanted and more. As we were both born and raised in London it made perfect sense to get married here. We chose the Dickens Inn as St Katherine’s Dock is one of our favourite London spots. The docks and pub looked amazing in the evening covered in fairy lights and we managed to get some stunning wedding photos by London Bridge. All our guests commented on how beautiful the venue looked. All the staff were so helpful in the lead up to our big day and the actual day itself. Everything ran smoothly and stress free! We really wanted a relaxed, fun wedding in an spectacular London location and that’s exactly what we got with the Dickens Inn. I just wish we could do it all over again!

Fantastic wedding, highly recommend

We just wanted to write to say a massive thank you for making our wedding day the most magical day! We have always enjoyed visiting the pub and after getting engaged and looking at over 20venues we enquired at the dickens inn. Agata and her team were just incredible from the start to finish. Nothing was ever too much too ask for, and questions were always answered super fast. Our day was beyond amazing, and so many people said it was the best wedding they went to and how magical and iconic the venue / location was. We will never be able to thank you enough!

Amazing Wedding Day

I had my wedding at the Dickens Inn and it was exactly what I wanted! We opted for late afternoon ceremony with a bbq style buffet in the evening! Ceremony was amazing and the party was a great night. The food went down a treat for everyone especially the burgers and the sausages!! There was a bit of an issue with the air con which made it very very hot in there, but the staff were very apologetic and refunded some of the money I had already paid. Agata, the events manager, was fantastic! We kept in touch frequently over a 18 month time frame and she accommodated all my requests and helped in every way she could No complaints at all. Brilliant venue and all my friends and family commented what a magical day it was

Perfect wedding location!

We were lucky enough to be able to book this wonderful wedding venue on a Bank Holiday Saturday in August for our wedding, and we are so glad we did! We had often visited the pub for dinner in The Grill, or a delicious pizza, or just a drink, as it is such a beautiful location. We had family coming over from the States so we were looking for somewhere very centrally located, but somewhere with character and charm. The Dickens Inn ticked every box; the wedding venue is stunning, with its beautiful wooden beams and huge windows, and you are so close to Tower Bridge and the bustle of central London, but the cobbled streets around the quay could be a million miles away. Agata and her team were outstanding from the very first email exchange, nothing was too much trouble for them and we were in fairly regular contact for the year before our wedding, no question was too small and every detail was thought about. Any issues that arose closer to the wedding day were quickly and efficiently solved, and on the day we really felt that we could let go and enjoy ourselves, as Agata was there to make sure everything went to plan! We had the most memorable and perfect day, food was delicious and drinks plentiful, we were looked after so well and made to feel so special, and we can't thank Agata and The Dickens Inn enough for their personal, kind and efficient service. Would wholeheartedly recommend!
