Description

After it became an authorised venue, we have started offering wedding breaks at Melmerby Hall over the last year or so but have not started to advertise this on a wider scale basis and we do not have a standard brochure, nor are we really sure that we would like to have such a thing, as we do not see ourselves as offering a set of standard wedding packages. We do not anticipate becoming a major commercial wedding venue preferring instead to remain more personal and smaller scale in terms of numbers of weddings. We offer wedding breaks with a minimum of a three night stay at Melmerby Hall and do not offer single night bookings. Melmerby Hall is 5* rated by Visit England and has also won a Gold Award for outstanding quality in all areas, particularly with respect to guest service.  The Hall accommodates 18 guests in nine bedrooms and, together with its adjoining three bedroom cottage called Stag Cottage, 24 guests may be accommodated in 12 ensuite bedrooms. We also have another cottage set within the former walled orchard garden of Melmerby Hall called Kirkbride Hall which has another four double bedrooms allowing a total of 32 guests to be accommodated at Melmerby Hall and its cottages. We have an archery lawn in the gardens which is well suited to a marquee or tipis. Smaller parties can be easily accommodated in the four main reception rooms all of which interconnect (the Georgian Drawing Room, the oak panelled Library, the formal Dining Room and the family Living Room). Melmerby Hall is set within 25 acres of our private woodland & is walking distance to the village of Melmerby which has our local pub, The Shepherd's Inn, a village shop, a little antiques shop and The Old Village Bakery which serves breakfasts, lunches, coffees, homemade bread and cakes and has a lovely ladies fashion, interior and gift shop upstairs called 'Hollberrie' which is definitely worth a visit to support local independent retailing!

Fabulous Wedding Weekend Away

We booked Melmerby Hall, Stag Cottage and Kirkbride Hall out for our Wedding weekend. Everything was fantastic! Christine, Gillian and Jilly were all so friendly and helpful when we were booking and making arrangements. The rooms were all immaculately clean and very comfortable, the kitchens amazingly stocked and the house as a whole felt like a home from home. We had great walks around the beautiful house grounds and in the surrounding countryside, followed by excellent food at the pub and cafe in the village which are only a few minutes walk away from the house. I would recommend this hall to anyone and certainly hope to return.

Beautiful and Comfortable House

Beautiful and comfortable country house” Reviewed 23 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017 The location is beautiful, the hall and stag cottage are both very comfortable and well equipped. It is a great location for a celebration or family get together. The village offers a lovely cafe combined with boutique (including fresh bread), village pub and toy shop. We also took the opportunity to book a hot tub which was delivered ready for our arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no qualms in recommending this property for a memorable stay.

Melmerby Hall Wedding

We rented Melmbery Hall, Kirkbride Hall and Stag Cottage for our wedding which meant that we were able to have about 1/3rd of the guests staying onsite. I would highly recommend the hall as a brilliant relaxed summer wedding venue. Kirkbride hall was a perfect place for some of our guests to stay for the long weekend.

July Wedding

Melmerby Hall was the fantastic venue for our wedding in July 2016. It couldn't have provided better accomodation and wonderful spaces for a whole weekend of celebrations. The team at Melmerby were brilliant at helping us to organise and answering questions. As they only have the odd wedding at the hall they had the time and enthusiasm to really get to grips with our plans. We rented Melmbery Hall, Kirkbride Hall and Stag Cottage, which meant that we were able to have about 1/3rd of the guests staying onsite. Through arrangments with the Vicar we were also allowed to get married in St John's Church. Melmerby Hall has a door through the garden wall so guests could enter directly after the ceremony. I would highly recommend the hall as a brilliant relaxed summer wedding venue.

Beautiful & Comfortable House

Beautiful & comfortable house!” Reviewed 4 February 2018 for a stay in January 2018 Melmerby Hall is a lovely large house - well equipped, spacious, comfortable & beautiful with a large garden with different areas to it & a gate leading straight into a woodland walk with a river. There were 20 of us - 14 adults & 6 children - plus our Border Terrier. There were plenty of social areas so that you could be part of the social bustle or relax in a quiet room with a roaring fire & a good book. There are plenty of walks straight from the house & a pub in the village. The kitchen had everything you need to cater/cook for large groups. All you need to bring is your own food & drink. The Master Suite was lovely although the interconnecting bedrooms did not suit our particular group - but it still worked out fine as the second bedroom had its own private entrance & outside staircase. We all had an amazing, wonderful weekend & we would love to return.
