What is your most memorable wedding?
A wedding in 2018 at Barton Tower (near Skipton)! The couple wanted some really fun shots and we had such a laugh as well as capturing some stunning images in the grounds. The sun shone and it was just amazing all round.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
I have a whole host of tips on my wedding tips page https://www.suerutherfordphotography.com/wedding-info
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always like to meet clients for a consultation prior to booking to ensure we will work well together and that my style of photography is what they are looking for. I also like to take the time to get to know them better so they feel more at ease in front of the camera.
Most of the time we like to do a pre-wedding shoot to get used to posing and working together. These are great done at or near the wedding venue if possible.
I always like to meet prior to the wedding to finalise the wedding schedule, times etc. I also like to check in with them a couple of days before the wedding just to see how they are and if they need any last minute help with anything.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Difficult question as there are so many that I think are a must. It depends on the couple though and how comfortable they feel with certain poses. There should always be a first kiss and I like to see the hands with the rings on as I think this is timeless.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Bride and groom stood at a bus stop. I wasn't sure of it's significance but they wanted it and it actually looked rather romantic.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
I always bring a big umbrella even if the weather looks amazing for the day. You never know what can happen. It's also goo to find a nice room with a big fancy window if out side is off limits.
Describe how you got into photography.
I have had a real passion for photography since studying for my degree in Contemporary Art Practice, and my fascination with weddings began at an early age (as it does for most little girls). For me, being able to combine my passion for photography and love of weddings into a career is a dream come true.
