You will not be disappointed!

Massive thank you to Stuart and Gillian for our wedding photographs, it has made our special day even more memorable! Everything from the booking, the actual wedding day, picking photographs and receiving our album was made so easy and smooth – definitely a 5 star service They consider and advise you on every eventuality and have so much experience they are ready for anything that comes their way. Stuart had loads of ideas for photographs in and around our venue but was also happy to listen and take on board certain shots that we wanted. If you are looking for a photographer and Stuart is free then book him….You will not be disappointed!

Brides input / beautifully executed

Not only are Stuart’s award-winning photographs incredible (they speak for themselves), but his people skills are very special. From my initial enquiry, to phone conversations, to the practice photo shoot, to our meetings and then in particular on the day itself, Stuart’s humour and warmth instantly put everybody at ease (even a very nervous bride!) He and his partner Gillian felt like our friends on the day of the wedding and were the perfect mix of laughs, smiles and professionalism whilst being completely unobtrusive to the running of the day. The resulting photographs are out of this world and many wouldn’t look out of place in a glossy magazine spread. Stuart takes great pride in doing what he does very, very well and as far as I’m concerned, sets the standard for others to aspire to. Stuart went above and beyond the role of a wedding photographer. I was a very fussy customer and knew exactly what I wanted from my photographs. Instead of brushing off my concerns, as I know many other photographers would have done he listened carefully, asked questions, looked at examples and gained a good insight into what was in my head. On the day, Stuart had a carefully timed plan and list which he consulted to ensure that everything I asked for happened and every photo I wanted was taken, even going out of his comfort zone to take a few photos in a different style to his usual angle. The result is a bespoke set of photographs which allowed my input, beautifully executed by the obvious talent of Stuart. He was determined to get it right for me and I’ll be eternally grateful!

Rockstars !!

Stuart, the sample shots you sent through are fantastic, absolutely beautiful and we both cannot wait to see more. Married life is treating us well thank you, I can't believe it's nearly a month since our Wedding Day. I had planned this week to get in touch with all of the amazing professionals who helped to make our Wedding Day as perfect as it was, so you are the first and naturally the most important 😉... Thank you so much to you and Gillian for being generally fantastic and such an important part of our day. Richard and I genuinely enjoyed getting to know you both while planning our Big Day. You have a great approach and as you knew our venue inside out, we knew straight away that our photos, with you in charge, would be stunning and the lasting memory we wanted them to be. You and Gillian make an amazing team and it was a real pleasure to have you as part of our day, to us you felt like our guests. Oh, and congratulations for being able to corral a room of our families, a feat not to be underestimated. We can't wait to see more photos and start choosing our album. You guys are rockstars.

Above and Beyond

The photo galleries on their website speak for themselves, but they can’t convey how positive an impact Stuart and Gillian can make on your own big day. We were rather specific in the shots that we wanted but nothing was too much trouble and I can’t believe the amount of shots that we managed to capture over the course of a busy day! One key skill to look for in a wedding photographer is the ability to take command of the situation on a day where there is a lot going on – Stuart hits the nail on the head perfectly, directing the couple, friends and family into the relevant poses but always with a smile and a quip. Just as an example of 1500 going the extra mile: A few hours after Stuart and Gillian had left the venue, we were chatting with our guests whilst the ballroom was being turned around. Stuart and Gillian reappeared with a camera still of the sunset that was going on outside and asked whether we would like to nip outside with the incredible sky as a backdrop. There was no need for them to do that, indeed they had more than done a day’s work, but thinking about how we might like the shot they came all the way back to the venue to ask us.

I am so incredibly proud of my photos

I got married last July at Mar Hall and Stuart from 1500 photography was my photographer. I spent a long time researching photographers and when we met with Stuart a couple of times at our venue, his passion and ability shone through from the beginning. I wanted someone with talent, who was dedicated. I knew he wasn’t the cheapest option, but I also knew I had one wedding day and one wedding day alone so I wasn’t going to risk a dodgy photographer. I have to admit, I loved every second of my wedding but there were some slightly stressful moments …. all things I hadn’t anticipated. I had spent most of my time before the wedding worrying about having to have pictures taken- a task I’d normally avoid like the plague. I needn’t have worried. Stuart and Gillian were incredible. Within minutes I was relaxed and laughing. They managed to get photographs of both myself and my husband getting ready. They did an amazing job during the ceremony- it wasn’t until the signing of the register that I even realised Stuart was there. He was so discreet. After the ceremony though was when he really came into his own. I am so incredibly proud of those photos- if you knew me at all you’d realise how unlikely that comment is. They are artistic and different but still capture the pure happiness and joy that was our day. Every photograph in our album is one I could stare at for hours. There’s one photo in particular (I don’t know if you know mar hall at all) where I’m standing in front of one of the long windows leading to the garden, fanning my veil. I love it. I look at it and don’t think it’s really me. It makes me feel a very glamorous bride. Stuart’s passion for his photography didn’t end there. When we went to pick up our album he did an amazing thing. By that point I was 7 and a half months pregnant. He offered, for free, to take some more photos. He took the same window shot, but this time with bump. It was so touching to see them side by side. It was a simple thing, but one I’m sure he’ll realise I’ll cherish forever.Stuart was an integral part of the success of our day. The results were, I believe, perfect. They were even better that I envisaged. I would love to share my very positive experience with you as I know just how stressful planning a wedding can be and sometimes, as a bride, you can only take so many horror stories. I’d recommend 1500 photography before anyone else. They honestly were faultless.

What is your most memorable wedding?

Last summer, on the banks of Loch Lomond, an older couple, both in their 50's proclaimed their love for each other. There was only the couple, the humanist and a two witnesses provided by the hotel. Despite the whirlwind that often sourrounds a wedding its easy to forget that at then end of the day it should always just be about two people making that commitment to each other.

With whirlwind of events and emotion that often surround a wedding its easy to forget that at the end of the day it should always just be about two people making a binding, loving commitment to each other. Everything else is just show. Except the photography obviously. You always need photography ……

What about your business are you most proud of?

Longevity and my wonderful customers. My testimonials give me a great amount of satisfaction but not as much as knowing that so many of my friends started out as my clients.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Ok, this is a bit of a crazy one but ..... work your day out backwards. What time to you want to have your first dance? then work backwards from there to arrive a the ideal time for your ceremony.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Numbering the tables 1-12 but instead of names the tables had pictures of the bride and groom at the appropriate age. For example. table 1 was the a photo of the bride and groom aged one year old...... age 2 at table 2 and so on....

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Its so relaxed and easy. Its all done as we are chatting away you will hardly notice. You'll love it !

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

The mantlepiece shot. That picture of the two of you standing together looking into the lens and smiling. For all the fancy tricks, lens, effects and processing available, nothing tops a beautiful shot of a couple happy on their wedding day. Its a dull answer but its the photo you will come back to over and over again as the years go by.

I once was asked to arrived early to photograph the brides family verses the grooms family "5 aside" football match

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Well, since we are based in Scotland, if there is one thing we are well drilled in, its a wet wedding. We have loads of tips but the key is to always have a Plan B for the pictures. This is why we always meet our clients at the venue before the wedding. That way, even if the weather

Describe how you got into photography.

Old fashioned apprenticeship. From school I learned the very basics of film and print processing through to running my own lab. At the same time at weekends I carried the photographers case and steadily progressed up through the ranks to shooting my first wedding at 20
