Toscana Strings Full Description

Toscana Strings is a vibrant string quintet comprising two violins, viola, cello and double bass. With the addition of the double bass our sound is richer and our repertoire more varried than the traditional string quartet. All five of us are conservatoire-trained professional musicians. We play everything from traditional classical orchestral music to contemporary music (and anything in-between!) and tailor our repertoire to event organisers' specifications, making their event as special and unique as possible. Playing together for over fifteeen years, we have gained an excellent reputation for the quality of our playing and the communication leading up to the events. Regular clients include Birmingham's Town Hall and Symphony Hall, Events Unlimited, Eversheds and University of Birmingham with venues ranging from Birmingham's Council House and Blenheim Palace to marquees in the grounds of private estates. We have played for private dinners for 30 guests, to wedding ceremonies and receptions for over 200.

We can discuss how we can make your day even more special and incorporate any personal music choices to the proceedings. We can play for any part of the day and are happy to move from one venue to another. We are not an agency and do not out source any part of our playing. This means our playing is of a very high standard and once we are booked we're booked!

Their amazing repertoire meant that they had something for everyone and there was not a dry eye in the house at Pachelbel's Canon. We are so pleased that Toscana Strings were able to play at our wedding earlier this month. From the first point of contact Sophie was amazing; so responsive and accommodating of requests and questions and even sourcing music if it wasn’t already in their repertoire to ensure we could have exactly what we wanted. On the day, they really added to the atmosphere and the music played during our ceremony was perfect. Our guests loved listening to the range of music and Toscana Strings were a beautiful element of our drinks reception, even taking requests. We play music at ceremonies and wedding receptions that has a special meaning and place in couples hearts, that identifies them as individuals and as a couple. We are not an agency so when we discuss the music you want, we are the ones that will be playing it.

Having Toscana Strings play a special song/piece of music that a couple has chosen!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

A couple will contact us (usually email, phone call or via Facebook). We discuss ideas and if we are available. If the couple are happy and want to book us we ask for a £100 deposit. We confirm the booking with a letter of agreement stating everything we have discussed so far. Communication does not end there....when ever a couple has a question they get in touch and we answer all questions as soon as we can (usually within a few hours). Two weeks before the big day we ask for the remainder of the fee and a final letter of agreement is sent to you with the final details. On the day relax(!) and enjoy us serenading you and your guests.
