Indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces: We are licensed to hold ceremonies both indoors and outdoors across three stunning spaces. For intimate ceremonies, our beautiful Orangery offers panoramic views of rolling hills, while our elegant De Beauvoir Suite, with its tall bay windows, provides a gorgeous backdrop for larger celebrations. For couples dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, our stunning outside space overlooks the historic moat and open countryside. For those planning a church wedding, St Margaret's Church, a beautiful historic parish church, sits just a stone's throw from the venue.
2 AA Rosette dining: All catering is handled exclusively in-house by our award-winning restaurant team, who create bespoke menus using the finest local ingredients, creating food your guests will genuinely remember
Bridal dressing room: Get ready in style, our beautiful Bridal Dressing Room overlooks the Essex countryside, giving you and your bridesmaids the perfect setting to enjoy those precious morning hours together.
On-site accommodation: At Downham Hall, we have five individually styled en-suite five-star bedrooms, including our spacious Bridal Suite, which means you and your closest loved ones can fully immerse yourselves in the celebration and when the final song has played, simply walk up the ornate staircase to bed. Gather together for breakfast the next morning in either our light and airy Orangery or cosy De Beauvoir Suite. It had everything we wanted and added to our day, our guest enjoyed themselves. The venue is stunning the grounds are beautiful, even our guests remarked how beautiful it is. You forget where you are, you feel like your miles away in the countryside. Our rooms was lovely, with stunning views again, it had everything we wanted even a coffee machine hehe. A big thank you to Dawn, who played a big part in giving us our dream wedding, she was amazing! Always friendly and kept in touch all of the time. I would also like to thank Andrew and Christina, it was lovely to see the stages of Downham coming together and being a part of this. Special thanks to Christina, Lauren and Dawn who helped to make the planning of the day so easy. We loved how personal the venue was knowing it was just our Family and Friends there and no-one else there for other events. Everyone was so professional but extremely friendly, always asking if we needed any help through the weeks leading up to the big day. The rooms were amazing, clean and tidy. The breakfast for the morning of the wedding for the Bridal Party was brilliant. The cooked breakfast the following morning was absolutely amazing too and was lovely to see Christina and friendly faces. We can’t thank you enough for letting us have our special day at Downham Hall. We had our wedding on the 13th July and from the start of the process last year to the moment the last guest left, we could not fault anything. The first time we went there we were warmly welcomed by Christina and we completely fell in love with the venue and the wonderful family run business. We had Dawn as our wedding coordinator and she is just fabulous! Absolutely wonderful lady who helped me so much throughout the whole process, always made me feel calm and always took time to reply to any mad or little questions I had. Nothing was to much trouble and it really made the whole thing so much less daunting. Every single one of our guests thought that the venue was stunning, it really is beautiful. There is no other place I could ever dream of having that would be more perfect then Downham Hall. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back to stay soon!!
