We are so grateful to Sarah, Emily, Philip & team

We had our wedding at Coombe Trenchard on 22nd July 2017. Sarah + Team / Wedding Planning: We made our booking around 18 months prior to the big day itself. Throughout that time we made many visits to Coombe Trenchard to hone and plan all aspects of the day. Sarah was incredibly welcoming and helpful in our planning; I personally felt so reassured to know that she was ultimately responsible for the day. She was so conscientious, reliable, thorough and passionate about making everything perfect for us. The reassurance this affords you as a couple is priceless. House and gardens: Both are breathtaking! Our guests particularly loved the croquet lawn and the seating area on the Italian Terrace, on which we toasted marshmallows over the fire pits! The Coach House is perfectly formed, combining an area for dancing with comfy sofas and a log fire. Bridal suite: The room has been beautifully decorated, with a large bathroom. It was an incredibly relaxing place to wake up as husband and wife! Afternoon tea: We opted for afternoon tea as our 'wedding breakfast' freshly prepared / homemade by Sarah and her team. My wife and I love afternoon tea, and have tried the offerings of many fine venues including the Dorchester, Woburn Abbey, and Boughton House. We both agree that the afternoon tea we had on our wedding tea was the best. Everything homemade, exquisite flavourings and many varieties of sandwiches and cakes, delicious scones with jam and clotted cream, and special shortbread biscuits hanging on ribbons for the bride and groom. But aside from the flavours, the display of everything was breathtaking. Tea served in a collection vintage cups and saucers, tiered plates at every table and many beautiful flowers cut freshly from the gardens in decoration. We are so grateful to Sarah, Emily, Philip and team for allowing us to have our wedding at Coombe Trenchard, and for all they did for us. Coombe Trenchard Weddings

Coombe Trenchard...there are no words that do it j

Coombe Trenchard...there are no words that do it justice. Having been to two weddings here and for a couple of weekends away, both in summer and winter, I can think of no better venue for a wedding nor a better weekend away. Sarah and Philip make it the perfect get away and it is what they bring to the place that makes it truly special. It is more than just somewhere to stay, each visit is an individual experience and each visit is unique. That said, it is also incredibly beautiful, incredibly relaxing and has the wonders of both Devon and Cornwall nearby. Come any stressful or busy period in your life and you'll find yourself thinking 'I'd rather be at Coombe Trenchard' (and we had the mugs made especially to say this)!

A captivating and enchanting escape from the real

A captivating and enchanting escape from the real world - stepping into the stunning house is like taking a step back in time, and a cream tea overlooking the gardens makes you feel you're in an episode of Downton Abbey. A warm welcome and a homely feel I've never experienced in a venue like this - somehow you feel grand but relaxed and at home all at once. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

all our guests are in awe of the venue

We chose Coombe Trenchard for our wedding venue and we cannot express how wonderful our wedding day was. Sarah was a fantastic person to help plan the day and she was like our own personal wedding planner! She went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was unique and special to us. Coombe Trenchard is a fantastic venue, the gardens and grounds are breathtaking, the house itself is wonderfully decorated with Art Deco style features and the rooms are all full of character. In particular, the room used as a bridal suite was phenomenal! The house is perfect for a wedding as the day ran seamlessly from the ceremony in the main hall, welcome drinks on the terrace, wedding breakfast in a marquee overlooking the grounds and then dancing in the recently restored coach house. Walking the minstrels gallery as my wedding march was a very special experience for me however all our guests are in awe of the venue, the suppliers and the attention to detail Coombe Trenchard provided. Coombe Trenchard feels like a second home and we cannot thank Sarah enough. We would recommend Coombe Trenchard without question and only wish we could relive our own wedding day again!

What a weekend. What a setting.

Coombe Trenchard house and gardens were just the most amazing setting for our wedding ceremony and reception – I can’t stop looking at our photos! The triple height Hall with its wooden paneling, ornate doors and impressive fireplaces was beautiful yet surprisingly intimate. We exchanged our vows on the entrance steps in the Hall, which acted as the perfect stage to be observed by our family and friends. Beforehand, my husband and I got ready with our bridesmaids and ushers, at opposite ends of the house, in two beautifully decorated bedrooms – ‘Sarel’ and ‘The Tower Room’. All the arts and crafts detailing really added to our ‘getting-ready’ photos. The positioning of Sarel in the house meant that my bridesmaids, my father and I could walk out onto a ‘minstrel’s gallery’ and look down at all the guests before coming downstairs. Seeing all our loved ones in one place like that – it is a moment I will never forget. We were lucky to have stunning weather and so had an afternoon champagne reception on the south-facing terrace. Our guests were welcome to explore the formal gardens which are so well tended and which provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding photos. I must say though, had it rained, we would not have been disappointed as the reception rooms on offer for drinks receptions were all exquisite and varied hugely in style. As well as the ceremony set-up and afternoon drinks, Sarah and her team also went out of their way to help us to have an evening reception to remember, recommending some fantastic suppliers. The ‘Bothy Lawn’, where the marquee was erected, was seconds from the terrace. It was accessed by an arch under the Italianate tower which was a really impressive entrance to the second part of our day. Sarah’s team are so friendly and she was more than happy to answer my many questions. I can’t recommend Coombe Trenchard highly enough as a venue. I would happily host our wedding there all over again! What a weekend. What a setting.

Thank you for making our day, the perfect day...

Where to begin... Our wedding planning started a year ago, and Coombe Trenchard was our first and only venue visit, we fell in love with it straight away! Then ever since putting the deposit down Sarah and Emily were always there with great advice and knowledge when it came to organising our wedding, nothing was ever too much to ask, and by the end they have become life long friends. All you have to do is look at a couple of photos of this place to get an idea of how beautiful it is. The house is charming inside and out with its excellent examples of Arts and Crafts Period features and it's sympathetic antique decor. There are beautifully decorated rooms for you and a couple of guests to stay in around the wedding day, which includes a tasty breakfast. Coombe also has (at least) 4 areas where you can choose to have your wedding ceremony, we had ours under the clock tower, however Coombe is a short walk away from the quaint Lewtrenchard Church. Not only this but the venue also boasts a large coach house, with a clear roof for dancing under the stars, a cosy fire lit lounge area for those tired guests. Then we come to the venues vast garden with its hidden walk ways, croquet lawn, small wood, stream and stunning Dartmoor scenery which surrounds it. It is breath taking come rain or shine. Finally I must mention the big day, which we had on the 12th of August 2017. It was even better than we could ever have imagined. And it could never have been so amazing if it wasn't for the beautiful Coombe Trenchard as it's setting, and for the guidance of Sarah and Emily right from the beginning. Thank you again for making our day, our perfect day !!! Charlotte & Alex Zalepa

Coombe Trenchard is one of those places that stays

Coombe Trenchard is one of those places that stays with you; it has its own personality and magic. From the moment we came to visit there was never any doubt where we would be holding our wedding, nothing could compare! From the start Sarah was utterly wonderful, full of knowledge and so caring and friendly. We felt in very safe hands as we navigated the brand new waters of wedding planning and enjoyed our meetings hugely! Our guests were blown away when they arrived, Coombe Trenchard is the best kept secret, a hidden gem in the often over done wedding circuit. We wouldn't change anything and feel incredibly lucky to have had our special day somewhere as unique and beautiful as Coombe Trenchard- go and see this exclusive and heavenly venue right ASAP ❤️

The most exquisite setting for our wedding day

Coombe Trenchard house and gardens were the most exquisite setting for our wedding day. Sarah and Philip so graciously and generously opened their home to us, not only for our special day itself, but on many instances throughout the wedding planning stages. It is a bespoke service like no other - nothing was too much trouble, and every single extra detail --whether it be Sarah's seasonal cutting garden flowers, homemade treats, or the use of pretty antique china and furniture-- set the scene perfectly, and helped create the intimate and cosy atmosphere my husband and I wanted to extend to all our guests that day. I must also add that Coombe Trenchard is dog-friendly, which was hugely important to us, and our beloved Border Collie was made to feel equally at home there. We chose to have an Edwardian-style wedding with plenty of botanical and vintage details, and every single space in Coombe Trenchard was an Arts & Crafts dream come true! From the minstrels' gallery, wood panelling and stunning fireplace in the Grand Hall, or the light and soft pastels of the Morning Room, to the romantic wisteria-covered Clock Tower, rustic Coach House, and sprawling formal gardens - it all has to be seen to be believed! And I can assure you, once you have seen Coombe Trenchard, you'll not consider any other venue - this stunning home will steal your heart, and Sarah & her fabulous team will guarantee you your Best Day Ever! Thank you again, Sarah & Philip (and also to Emily and Graham) for your kindness and dedication, and for being so passionate about everything that you do. We have magical memories to last us a lifetime, and I hope to see you all again soon. Rachel, Dale and Gypsy the collie x Coombe Trenchard Weddings

escape into a bygone era of elegance

It was fabulous to return to this handsome arts and crafts house and enjoy a couple of days away. Peaceful and impeccably furnished to reflect the character of this wonderful home the location cannot be faulted. A long sweeping drive leads up to the house which is surrounded by beautifully tended gardens. Sarah is a charming hostess and knows how to pamper her guests with style. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice little individual touches such as scented candles and soaps. Breakfast can either be taken on the terrace or in the ornate light and airy dining room. A perfect spot for a wedding, special occasion, or simply to escape into a bygone era of elegance.
